Friday 28 March (day 28)

Four weeks on the road…Time flies by. We left the Al Nasser Hotel, apparently the only hotel in town (surprisingly to some that there was even a hotel), to go to Dongola. A road through the Nubian dessert was now paved and going through a beautiful area; rocks, long stretches of road and sand… On the GPS it showed the coordinates for Nice place for camping near Dongola (Dongola is located on the other side of the Nile, camp on this side). We decided to check it out. When the dessert changed into farmlands and we started to see the palm trees again, we were guided off the road through the dessert and sandy patches to a place on top of a sand dune. Not the most ideal place for a tent and we decided to find a tree (for shade) in the dunes along the Nile: Another Nice place to camp! Except for the flies, ants, generator noise in the distance… East of us was the dessert, west the Nile with its agriculture and date palms.
